KringOm in Alvik

January 24, 2004

This weekend contained two nice enjoyments.

Some snow had made it possible to go cross country skiing in the Stockholm area.

Despite that this is rather unusual and very appreciated, the second experience will last longer in our memories - the dance with the KringOm musicians in Alvik.

When we went to the dance we were not aware who the musicians were and what type of music they would play.

When the six musicians entered the stage we did however recognise at least two of them, we had danced to them before, e.g. at dances with Orsa Spelmanslag.

The evening was all through a pleasant experience, but could have been shared by a larger audience.

The musicians had in our opinion an ideal mixture of music, with good Swedish traditional dances mixed with rather many polskor.

The latter were as one could expect mainly Orsapolskor, but also other well known polskor like pols and polskor from Rättvik, Boda and Bingsjö.

The orchestra did not only play nice and danceable music, we appreciated them also for their pleasant mode and varied repertoire.

Some examples from that evening is that they also played foxtrot from the 40's and very nice tango.

Thank you, KringOm spelmän, for an excellent dance evening!
