The winter dance event with Slagsta Gille is always something to look forwards to. The ice at the lake Mälaren was excellent for skating this Saturday, but the dance made us stay with a trip of moderate distance. So we were at Hallunda Folkets Hus at 6 p.m. when the dance started.
The dance opened with Bollnäsbygdens spelmanslag. We had not been dancing to this group before. We have read that they are the oldest spelmanslag inHälsingland, but obviously they have not the oldest members.
Both the instruments and the age varied. They used instruments as recorders and percussion instruments, besides the more traditional folk music instruments.
Their gammaldans music contained mainly schottishe, hambo and waltz. They played also polskor later in the polske room. Their polskor from Hälsingland hade a delightful, almost orchestral sound.
Besides this group there were many other musicians and groups. As usually, these were playing everywhere in the building. We had for example nice dances to Anders Haage and Slagsta Gille.
The very nice dance floors and the enjoyable music makes us as always look forwards towards the next event.
