Accordion event at Ekeby Loge

May 29, 2004

May was rather cold this year, and so was the Whitsun. On this weekend -May 29 and 30 - there was an accordion music and dance event at Ekeby Loge. As we had never been there before, we took this opportunity to visit.

Our impression is that either a car or a bicycle is needed to visit this place. With car it can be reached by using the exit road towards Tungelsta that is located south of the motorway. It is probably also possible to go to there using the local train, and bringing a bicycle.

Ekeby Loge is part of the Ekeby manor, and is surrounded by stables and horses. The 'loge' is well protected from weather and wind, but otherwise without insulation. The locale has both a large dance floor with a stage at the end, and a rather big area with a bar and tables.

We appreciated both the place as such and the dance floor. When we arrived at 5 the dance was just to begin. There were only a few dancers there, but due to the delightful environment, the varied music and a lot of space for dancing the dance was very nice and well worth remembering.

The music contained accordion music in the Jularbo style, some modern melodies - both very modern played by and for youth people and more traditional melodies, and Russindalens Spelmän playing very nice gammaldans.

On our way home we were met by a fantastic light, where the overcast sky in the south met a clear sky from the north. The sun was incredible, large and beautiful, and at the front zone there was a a marvellous light from the sky, with the sun shining on heavy rain. The rainbow was marvellous, the most beautiful I have ever seen.
